スーツ萌え[suit-moe]

February 27, 2009 at 2:42 pm (BL, cosplay(コスプレ), doujin(同人), otaku word)

a

This is something I can’t understand. That might be because I am a man, no? Yes, this is something women feel hot…it looks like that. In Tonari no Yaoi-chan, there is a scene in which Yaoi-chan makes his boyfriend wear a suit before they go outside on the summer day because…she has a スーツ萌え[suit-moe].

When it comes to a suit, you might think of the genre, リーマンもの[reeman thing] if you are a fujoshi. リーマン[reeman] is an abbreviation of サラリーマン[salaryman]. リーマンもの is such a BL story which takes place between two(or more) salarymen. If you are a man and usually wear a suit at work, there would be nothing particular, however, why is it that hot for women?

リーマンもの

リーマンもの

As Yaoi-chan said, a suit could make a man look more(30%) handsome than he actually is. そうなの?So I quickly investigated how women feel about this in general. Let’s see, most of them prefer a black suit(I don’t understand why, but there is even a 黒スーツ萌え[kurosuit-moe] or a black suit-moe), a clean shirt, shiny shoes, and slacks mustn’t be too loose, nor too tight. A hairstyle should be neat, otherwise it would look like a shabby host. A plain black hair is preferable. Plus, if he wears glasses, it might be much better for people who have a glasses-moe[メガネ萌え]. Anyway, you can sum up such a guy as a スーツ男子[suit danshi], or a suit guy.

There is often a saying, women shall be surprised to see a man in suit if he wears it all of a sudden. I mean, he doesn’t wear a suit at all, but one day he shows up in suit for some reason…and women get surprised,”OMG, what happened to him? He looks cool!” In this way, a suit has such an awesome power to attract women. If you don’t usually wear a suit, why don’t you try this in order to surprise your girlfriend or other women? They might be intrigued, haha. Don’ say ただしイケメンに限る!

I don’t think of any characters whom a suit looks nice. Sorry this is my personal taste, but I definitely say Naoe Nobutsuna in Mirage of Blaze. He always wears a suit though he is actually a monk, oh he looks cool. I want to be a man like him! Or else, I have seen some characters occassionally wearing a suit like Hibari Kyouya in Katei Kyoushi Hitman Reborn! Among doujin fans, this really happens a lot. It is even a rule-of-thumb, I mean, to get your favorite character to wear a suit.

32

Speaking of  リーマンもの, I do wonder why some fujoshis like it. I think this is because here is an imcomprehensible business world that they don’t understand. I don’t mean to be rude, but リーマン is something embodies a men’s society that women can’t get in. The more secret there is, the more people want to pry…Such is a thing that a fujoshi office lady hallucinatesthinks of. Incidentally, if you happen to be in Tokyo, please go to Shimbashi[新橋] after 7 or so. You will see a lot of  drunk リーマン whining each other. I have a fujoshi friend who sees “things” when there is two drunk salarymen on the train. 左の上司が受けで右の部下が攻めだわ。この場合先輩受けと後輩攻めね!

Meanwhile, there is another type of スーツ萌え, that is 戦隊スーツ萌え[sentai suit moe]. 戦隊[sentai] means a ranger. 戦隊スーツ[sentai suit] is something such a ranger bishoujo wears when she is off to the battlefield. It should be so tight that her shape is obviously seen. Those plugsuits in Neon Genesis Evangelion are perfect examples. Me? Of course I like Asuka’s one! But a friend of mine said the plugsuits of Shinji and Kaworu look gayish. What about Zero’s costume? Oh there is C.C’s pilotsuit in Code Geass. Ah, she is so hot!

Someone, please stop my ハァハァ(*´д`*)
Someone, please stop my ハァハァ(*´д`*)

No matter what, don’t get your boyfriend to wear a suit in summer like Yaoi-chan does so. A suit is really hot in summer. Not that hot, of course.

[Cosplay] Antique Bakery

February 22, 2009 at 12:20 pm (BL, cosplay(コスプレ))

 2

If you follow Noitamina[ノイタミナ] timeslot, you would be sure of this series, Antique Bakery[アンティーク-西洋骨董洋菓子店-]. A while ago, one of my cosplay buddies gave me a proposition that we should form a group of Antique Bakery. And my part is him.

4

He is Kobayakawa Chikage[小早川千影] who works for Tachibana who is a son of the big family. Although he looks scary, he is actually a good-for-nothing. He can’t do anything himself at all, so that Tachibana has to take care of him. There are only four leads in this anime, so you can form a group easily. Tachibana, Ono, Eiji, and Chikage, that’s it. The costume is very regualr as you can see. I yet to wait for my friend giving me a date when we could make it come to pass. The friend is going to cosplay Ono who is actually a gay hunter and tries to have Chikage (but Chikage is not sure of the real him).

Anyway, I will update this album when we make it. (Wait for me, Khursten!) Read the rest of this entry »

[Cosplay] Otomen of the Rebellion-反逆のオトメン- Part 2

February 21, 2009 at 4:03 pm (cosplay(コスプレ))

I realise that I have spent a lot of money for cosplay so far. I can’t even count how much it has been total! Come to think of it, there are some costumes I tried out only one time. What a waste, I think I should wear more. So I cosplayed Lelouch and Zero again because I hadn’t done for a year. Yes these costumes weren’t that cheap. There is no reason I shouldn’t wear more! My rebellion hasn’t finished yet! Read the rest of this entry »

オタク買い[otakugai]

February 21, 2009 at 2:55 pm (general, otaku word)

As you may know, otaku people do not hesitate to purchase what they want, in other words, they love to collect. That is, they are collectors. Needless to say, they make a lot of money, which means it is good for the economy. By the way, here is another behavior to describe otaku’s character. Please look at this image.

tosshi

This is Hijikata Toshiro in Gintama, but what looks different from the usual him is that he is actually possessed by an otaku’s spirit. So that is why whatever he does and says sound like an otaku. Should I cosplay this Hijikata? There is a scene in which he asks Gintoki, Shimpachi, and Kagura to buy a brand-new figure. One figure per person, but he wants at least three, so that’s why he asks them to get one. The funny thing is the reason why he wants three. One is to watch[観賞用], one is to keep just in case[保存用], and one is to use[実用用]. Use for what?! 何に使うんだよ!Yes, to purchase the same stuff(doujinshi, figure, CD, DVD or whatsover) more than two for some reason shall be called オタク買い[otakugai] or otaku purchase. It could be also マニア買い[maniagai]. I know something like this really happens in real life.

Why do they buy the same thing more than two? I have a friend who is a big fan of Negima!? Once he bought 7 copies of the seiyu’s CD. I asked him why, and he told that one was to listen in his room, one to listen in his car, one to keep just in case, one to lend someone[布教用], one to help the seiyu’s sale, and the limited version[限定版]. I have nothing to say about this.

But the last reason was a bit interesting. He said it was to exchange[交換用]. If the item is really priceless, you can’t buy it no matter how much money you pay. But if you have something priceless too, you could negotiate and exchange it for the item. Otaku people do not seem to sell such a premium stuff no matter how expensive it could sell, so you need something equivalent to negotiate with an otaku.

Come to think of it, I still remember Hare Hare Yukai(Suzumiya Haruhi ED theme song) came to no.5 on the weekly oricon rank. Behind the case, there was a rumor that the fans bought to push the song in to top 10. Since I am stingy, this is not something I can understand…

Besides, there is a bit similar word to this, 大人買い[otonagai] or adult’s purchase. This is for an adult to buy such a cheap stuff(something kids want to buy). When you were a kid, you couldn’t buy it a lot. However, now that you have enough money, you can buy as you like. I have a friend who did 大人買い to get Kaworu’s can from the Evangelion can coffee vending machine. He kept buying until he collected all the cans. You can call this フルコンプ[furu compu] or full complete.

Otakus are dedicated to the economy. They really are.

[Intermission] Hell Teacher Nu~be~

February 18, 2009 at 1:48 pm (cosplay(コスプレ))

 nube

I wonder how many of you know this series, Hell Teacher Nube[地獄先生ぬ~べ~] because this anime is very old. If you know this, you might be around the same age as me. When I was 14 or so, I really used to adore the hero, Nueno Meisuke who is called Nu-be- by his students. Most of the times, he is a good-for-nothing[ヘタレ], but he tries to do his best to save his students when they get in danger. He is actually a psychic, and exorcises evil spirits with his left hand, 鬼の手[oni no te] or Demon’s hand. This is not only just a battle anime, but such a heartful story. Some of the episodes are really nice, and I used to cry a bit…especially the scene in which his beloved mentor, Minako-sensei showed.

nube2

At any rate, I decided to cosplay him this time. Although the costume is too regular, the properties are difficult to make. Without Demon’s hand, this cosplay doesn’t come true, so I had to make it myself in two days. I am not good at making something like this, though. Anyway, Nube is 25 years old…yes, it is not too late for me to cosplay him! Maybe? Read the rest of this entry »

オタギレ[otagire]

February 10, 2009 at 2:12 pm (doujin(同人), otaku word)

すごい顔だ…
すごい顔だ…

Yes, it’s pretty easy to guess. When an otaku breaks down in anger, it is going to be this state. Technically, this is an abbrevation of オタクがキレる[otaku ga kireru]. キレる[kireru] means to get mad or furious all of a sudden. Because such a hot temper makes difference between general people and otakus, a word like this exists, I suppose so.

Particulary, when such an otakish event takes place, this is likely to happen. For example, Comic Market, a handshaking reception for an idol, a game shop that is going to sell brand-new games or something like that. When otakus humbly line up for it, one or two rude ones mess it up for their own…and they would start a fight, yelling at each other. The way otakus get mad looks awkwardly odd. Since they are mostly humble, it would look more peculiar when they get mad. Sometimes they would utter a word that doesn’t belong to human beings like Nagato Yuki. When things like this happen, the press would pick it up…and people would have a bad image towards otakus again…How many times are we gonna see this?

Having said that, as far as I am aware, I have never heard that there has been a single death because of オタギレ[otagire]. I bet there has been a lot of otagire fights at Comic Market where more than 500,000 people get together every year. Nonetheless, I have never heard that there was a death because of such a fight. So I’d venture to say that otakus are harmless. You know, there has been a lot of casualities because of a ridiculous fight in Japan. It sure happens everyday. Some people even die. And the cliched statement from an assault must be カッとなってやった、今は反省している。[katto natte yatta, ima wa hansei shiteiru], or I did it because I got mad. Now I regret.  Comparing to this nonsense, I think otakus wouldn’t do something like this. What do you say about this?

I have encountered this before. It was when I talked with my fujoshi friend about the BL doujinshi she had.

a [me]. Hey, I don’t understand this.

b. What is it?

a. Look at this cum, this looks weird.

b. How weird?

a. How come it looks very watery? A real one is stickier and more slippery.

b. Don’t care about such a little thing.

a. This looks too clean. Looks like Volvic or Evian. And he got too many cumshots. We men don’t have that m…

b. Shut up, this is a fantasy!

a. If you read any ero-doujinshi for men, you would see what I mean. You know, men make them, so that is why they know how cum actually looks…

b. MAN, DID YOU THE FUCK HEAR WHAT I SAID!? SHUT UP!

a. I-I-I mean yaoi manga-ka ought to know how a man’s body works…

b. SHUT THE FUCK UP, OR I’LL KILL YOU A*SHOLE!!(゜д゜)クワッ

…How could an otome[maiden] talk like this?

兄弟萌え[kyoudai-moe]

February 2, 2009 at 1:03 pm (BL, doujin(同人), otaku word)

Too close too close, man!
Too close too close, man!

There’s often an old saying; the deeper the secret is, the more people want to pry. The stronger a bond between the two persons, the more people want to slip in…Yes, I already mentioned something like this here, however, there’s a much much stronger relationship, that is 兄弟[kyoudai] or brothers. If you follow any bishoujo games, you might be able to find two sisters[姉妹, shimai] in the series. And you would choose which one you shall pursue first. If Igive you some examples, I can name Sonozaki sisters in Higurashi no naku koro ni, or Misaka sisters in Kanon. Even if they are sisters, mostly they don’t look like each other, I mean, the personality, not the looking. One is very dreamy whereas the other is surrealistic or something like that.

兄弟[kyoudai] is, of course in the mainstream as well as 姉妹. This could be more! Especially among fujoshis. For almost all the girls, a brothers’ relationship look stronger and more reliable than that of sisters. Is that so? I am not sure. There seems to be something unspoken and invisible between the two brothers. Even if they don’t seem to get along together, they have a connection somewhere deep in their hearts. Sometimes they would have a fight, and never speak, but even that they can’t leave each other because they are brothers. Such a mysterious strength could turn you on and grab your mind…that is 兄弟萌え[kyoudai-moe]. Speaking of kyoudai, I can think of Ed and Al in Fullmetal Archemist, Hitachiin brothers in Ouran High-School Host Club, Fuji brothers in Prince of Tennis, or Arikawa brothers in Harukanaru toki no naka de 3.

Of course, 兄弟萌え is, if nothing else, a kind of genre in BL. When it comes to this department, a bond of the two brothers is far stronger. ホモの近親相姦は本当に救えない…(笑)Before, the elder used to try to protect the younger in this genre, so the pairing was 兄[ani]×弟[otouto]. Mostly, the younger could be physically weak, so the elder would try to keep him safe. Night Head is a perfect example as far as I can tell. Ah, the Korean film, Brotherhood is also something like that.

However, things changed lately. Now there seems to be a reverse of it, 弟[otouto]×兄[ani]. In this case, the younger really loves and adores his big bro, in other words, he could be very jealous. So when some girls or some guysどっちかって言ったらこっちの方が多いw get near his big bro, he would try to get rid of those rivals, using whatever. He might even become ヤンデレ! Oh no, the perfect example is Rolo in Code Geass R2. At first, I thought Rolo must not be a seme because he is too little to be, so the pairing should be Lulu×Rolo. But I have a fujoshi friend who follows Rolo×Lulu. She said,”There’s no question about it. We use 健気攻め. Don’t you know how much he loves Lelouch? There is no reason he can’t be a seme. あんた、バカじゃないの?

rain_man_s

Speaking of which, there is the brothers who I really like though this is not from anime. That is Charlie[Tom Cruise] and Raymond[Dustin Hoffman] in Rain Man[1988]. Charlie[弟] doesn’t like the autistic Raymond[兄] who he hasn’t been sure of the existance at first. But as they spend the time together, Charlie realises he is protecting Raymond. Meanwhile Raymond who doesn’t know a concept of love, starts to feel the bond of brothers…An ojisan like me got touched by this story.^^ Please watch this film if you can.

Then how does it look like in American slash fangirls’ eyes? Don’t tell me there is Charlie/Raymond?

 Oh, never mind.
