 な、なんなのこれ…?

pico

When I was drinking with my friend last night, I heard of this. He told me this kind of thing is getting hot among not only fujoshis but akibakeis. Yes…actually a while ago, when I went to a bookstore in Akihabara, I saw a really really strange picture. Two little girls are playing in the river in a summer day, but both wear only underwears…and WHAT!? Obviously something is inside in the underwear. And a line says like ぼく達、男の子だよ[We are boys] or something like that. I was so scared that I immediately left there…Above image is a little different from what I saw, but I am pretty sure this is the same series.

Well, I know ショタ[shota] is something fujoshis love, however, they don’t even need to get dressed as a girl. But for some reason, it surely has turned some akibakeis on. Normally, to love such an immature girl sexually is what’s called ロリコン[lolikon], and I also know lolikon idols(we say ジュニアアイドル[junior idol]) are still popular in Akihabara. In the certain shop, you can find any lolikon idol DVDs.  But that evolved out of what it used to be. In order to love such a shota boy, they might crossdress. I can’t put it well in English, but we say 女装[josou] to crossdress to be like a woman. At any rate, I assume this is something aims at not only fujoshis but akibakeis because it wouldn’t matter to fujoshis who love shota boys even if they get dressed as a girl. The thing is, yes, how it could get akibakeis. So I think that’s why such an androgynous boy gets dressed as a girl so that akibakeis who love lolikon girls almost forget he is actually a boy.  In above anime, the protagonist has a soft spot for a little girl, but actually the girl turns out to be a boy…but he can’t stop pursuing him…

Come to think of it, I have seen such josou cosplayers a lot lately. If you happen to be in Tokyo, go to Akihabara or you could see such josou cosplayers. Ugh, but they are far from shota-looking, though.

yeah, seems like shotacon is no longer fujoshi’s exclusive area, lol
    remember watarase jun from “Happiness”?
Its called “trap” isn’t it? But I don’t know, I think that term is originated from 4chan not 2chan. Do you know something about this? ^^
there are lots of trap character these days and they are well accepted in otaku preferences
I don’t know, looks like hardcore akiba-kei otaku will eat anything that looks cute lol

as for shota is a turn-off of course ^^

Your blog is one of my very favorites and your post this time is why. What a great post–love all the benches and especially the frylth-scened one. I followed you on Linky followers.

Ah! Watarase Jun is a totally josou shounen! I guess he completely looks like a girl because of his long hair, so that fujoshi seem to feel he is no longer a shota boy. But meanwhile, such akibakei might feel something…Come to think of it, I have seen Wolfram in Kyou kara maou wearing a women’s pajyama…Can it be a fan service for not only fujoshis but akibakeis…?

I assume trap might mean such a less recognisable boy…Oh no, I can’t understand this taste. 🙂

    これが。。。 まぁ~ ちょっとキモイでしょう?

    Then again, I’m not entirely a big fan of shotacon. ^^;; I only like shotacon to a certain extent but even I can’t stand watching Boku no Pico. TAT;; And yeah, all the more when akibakeis like those kinds of things. ^^;; Probably this is a personal preference on my part… but yeah… Crossdressing boys is just fine. But the next step to that. まぁ… ^^;;

I’m not so sure if wolfram still counts as shotacon. He is slightly of age already. He just kinda looks young. So he’s not entirely shotacon. But yeah… the stuff that boku no pico has. TAT;; いや。これがやっぱだめだと思います。

It’s really interesting how trends go. I have a question though, do akibakeis get into regular crossdressing BL types? How about onnagata like 太一早乙女?

    AH! Something just came to mind. Is this the reason why Mako-chan of Minami-ke is also popular!? ほう。。。ヤバイ。まこちゃんはかわいいと思うけど。。。 when I think of it in context that he has to do H/BL stuff… やっぱダメ!! TAT;;

Umm, mako-chan and Watarase Jun…how come we can find a josou shounen so easily? That means this is so popular. Well, I can’t understand this taste, but maybe, I assume akibakeis might feel pleasure when they share a secret with a josou shounen, I mean, a secret that only you know he is actually a boy. His looks(and voice) is totally like a girl, right? So they almost forget the truth…

Ugh, but when he gets stripped off, we all find out he is a boy…but they still want to see H thing? This is something I can’t understand. やっぱりわからない。。。

And my friend also told me that most akibakeis probably don’t feel anything towards the real josou shounen, so I don’t think they do ハアハア(*´д`*) with 太一. Tabun ne?

Does this mean that Bangin-kun is also a shotacon?! OMG…

  6. bangin said,

You mean, I have a moe for this? No way…^^

If I had been a shota-looking, I could have cosplayed any shota-looking characters, though.

Ya know, as a smoker for 44 years, I will be glad to perish for the sake of those whspperinappers who can’t take it anymore. Just wait us out, we will all die soon enough. I just wish this public health issue was fairly applied. I am not a drinker. I would be happy to enter smokers therapy if I thought that ALL drinking alcohol was banned. Want to compare physical AND mental hazards? Lets get into a tobacco vs alcohol debate!

  7. Teko-chi said,

You like cosplay…? Do you cosplay at anime conventions? :’D

  8. bangin said,

No, but I wish I could. I only cosplay such a cosplay event, not a convention.

Aw….it will be so much fun though. ^^

Oh, it’s good to learn the Japanese term for such a thing, 女装. As someone mentioned above, English otaku call this a trap, because the beautiful boy lures men into thinking he is a girl. The term has become so prevalent that I think it might be leaking out into the rest of English pop culture. I know it was inspired by Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi but I can’t remember just who popularized it first (4chan — the deviant English version of 2ch — is a good guess though, as someone said above).

Funny story regarding Boku no Pico. In places like 4chan, whenever someone asks “What anime should I watch?” or “What anime is this character from?” People always answer “Boku no Pico.” It’s definitely a hazing process — testing or abusing a newcomer into downloading Boku no Pico and traumatizing them with the contents.

    • bangin said,

I didn’t know Pico is being used in that way out of Japan.

      • Platypus said,

It’s surprisingly well-known amongst dedicated English otaku.

  11. bangin said,

In your country, is it illegal to possess this kind of anime? I heard some countries are really strict about child porno.

    • Platypus said,

Laws are hazy about children in drawings or animation but usually people can be prosecuted for it if they get caught. The cases that mention it in the news lately have been people who also had pornography with actual children as well as manga or anime.

The potential illegality doesn’t stop anyone from downloading stuff like Boku no Pico or Kodomo no Jikan (I can’t think of any other lolicon titles at the moment), though. It seems like there’s quite an underground movement of English otaku who have gotten into lolicon and shotacon (the artist Poju has a lot of English fans and there was a very vocal minority of people who were upset when Kodomo no Jikan was canceled for a US release), although most of them stress “2D only, 3D is pig-disgusting” (anime and manga are fine but actual children would be gross).

If you’re curious, this article http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/editorial/2010-03-02/7 (not sure if HTML works so I’ll just post the URL) is written by an American lawyer who explains the current situation in the U.S. regarding people prosecuted for lolicon manga.

    • Retrocombine said,

Many online manga hosting sites overseas have been removing works that have nudity included in them. It’s true that many of them contain underage people in compromising situations, but it seems to be extending to everything as well. I recently helped translate an online manga with some nudity in it, and it’s not allowed to be uploaded anywhere because of that. So, people crack down very hard on it. This might be due to recent awareness about the issue, though…

      • bangin said,

Restriction is not necessarily a good thing. It would snatch fun from us. That is why I don’t like what the committee is doing, I mean they are about to change the law for child porno. What would happen?

  12. ---- said,

The people who like that are most likely gay or bisexual pedophiles.

    • bangin said,

      Well…it is too difficult.
