Japanese words of anime fans, by anime fans, for anime fans

 Well, this is similar to the previous post, 夢オチ[yumeochi] though this is not a way to conclude the story as a matter of fact. So 朝[asa] means morning, and チュン[chun] means chirm.  I don’t think this is common all over the world, but in Japan we usually hear spallows chirming in the morning…so what about that??

 Mostly, 朝チュン is a way to skip a sex scene in TV drama series, manga, anime or whatever. Unless it’s porn, any obscene images should not be shown in Japan. So for example, in a sope opera, when a boy and a girl are having a nice dinner in the room, they feel like having a sex. However, it mustn’t be shown on TV, right? So next moment,  a scene changes rapidly! Maybe what we  would probably see next, is the couple sleeping on the bed so peacefully in the next morning. And some spallows are chirming…You know what I mean? They must have done it even though it didn’t show us. This is 朝チュン.

 I think 朝チュン is used for many years especially in soap operas, shoujo manga or something like that.  Having said that, this might make people who really want porn things disappointed or upset somehow. Yes of course, the most important part is missing, right!?

 This term itself is not so old yet though we have had this kind of thing so much by now…I think you can come up some examples on the spot when you learn the meaning of this word.

 夢(yume) means a dream, and オチ(ochi) means an ending or a conclusion. So, this term means a way to conclude the story by telling the whole thing in the episode is just a dream.  From the beginning to the last, a story lasts…and finally in the last episode, at the very last moment, all of a sudden we are told the whole thing we are shown is just a dream. And the story ends. This is, what’s called, 夢オチ.

 As far as I know, I saw this kind of ending with Alice(Disney), High-school Kimengumi(ハイスクール　奇面組).  So would there be anything else which used this 夢オチ? As I have said, this 夢オチ  is very typical(and simple) way to conclude a story, so most people don’t get satisfied with this. Yes, actually this term includes a negative nuance so badly. 

I am not really sure about this, but there are so many people who freak out for this アホ毛. It doesn’t seem to be difficult to understand this term; アホ[aho] means idiot or stupid, and 毛[ke] means hair. So this means a piece of hair that is popping out of the head. It looks like an insect’s feeler. According to wikipedia, it says frizz in English, is that right?

 Anyway, if you look any bishoujo anime carefully, there must be at least one girl who has アホ毛. Well, I can think of Saber(Fate), or…I don’t know.   I feel nothing about this, so if you have a thing for アホ毛, could you tell me what makes so many anime otaku freak out?

This term has been remarkable lately because of this same title shoujo manga, オトメン. So it is a kind of clarification for men, which simply means young guys who like BL stuff or otome games even if they’re not gay. If you have this manga, you already saw the definitions for オトメン on the back cover(or else, it’s told in the story).

 1. Young men who likes BL stuff or any other otome things.   

 2. Young men who are good at any chores.

 3. Young men who are actually feminine whereas they are so manly in front of others.

In fact, in this manga, the first definition is not mentioned, but I think it should be. Having said that, this might be controvertial because even if he loves shoujo manga, that wouldn’t necessarily mean he is a BL fan. Such guys are maybe 腐男子([fudanshi]; male version of 腐女子[fujoshi]).

 Me? Well, a certain friend of mine made me admit I am an オトメ I have played some otome games and like them, and I am not bad at any chores…so umm, yes, I am the one. orz W-What? What’s wrong with being オトメン? I think the era of オトメン will be coming soon for sure!

So, let me start with one of my favorite term, ツンデレ. I think this word has already settled among anime fans, but I want to write about this word.

 First of all, know this word is actually an abbreviation of ツンツンデレデレ(tsuntsun deredere). The former ツンツン means a kind of cold attitude towards others, and the latter デレデレ means a kind of sweet and nice attitude. This is one of a girl’s frequently characteristics(or temper?). Whereas she seems to so cold to you in front of others, she becomes so nice to you behind others. Or else, she is becoming so nice to you as the distance between you and her is getting close…If you freak out for this moment, you surely have a thing for this ツンデレ temper.

 You know, if you look at any bishoujo anime, you will absolutely find at least one girl who has this kind of characteristic. Well, speaking of ツンデレgirls, I can definitely think of Haruhi Suzumiya(The Melanchory of Suzumiya Haruhi), Louise(Zero’s Familiar), and Souryu Asuka Rangley(Evangelion), and so on. As it happens, they all are my fav, though!

 But why has this word become so common? I think it’s because this temper shows a very traditional and fundamental aspect of most girls. Guys who like ツンデレ girls, like to chase girls who are not so easy. No matter how cold she is, he wouldn’t stop following her. It would be boring if you got her without taking so much time, wouldn’t it?

 And one more thing, such ツンデレ girls are really cold most of the time. However, when you almost give her up, or get tired of following her, she shows some kindness to you all of a sudden…but that kindness never lasts so long. After that, she will be cold to you again. I guess that ephemeral moment nails your heart.

 So let me say this lastly; Yes, I have a thing for ツンデレ!
